The winning team for football stadium dishwashing
Hospitality plays a major role at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, where catering operations extend far beyond matchday food service. The club operates multiple bars, restaurants, hospitality lounges and private boxes throughout Molineux Stadium, serving up to 32,000 supporters on a busy home fixture.
Alongside football, the venue hosts conferences, weddings, banquets and corporate events throughout the year, making it a busy hospitality destination seven days a week.
Managed by Levy UK, the catering operation also offers regular seasonal Sunday lunches, all set against the backdrop of more than 130 years of footballing history. With such a varied programme of events, the kitchen requires warewashing equipment capable of handling consistently high volumes while maintaining fast turnaround times and reliable performance.
A high-capacity warewashing solution
To meet these demands, Meiko partner distributor Bournville Catering Equipment specified and installed a MEIKO UPster K-M250-S/WR1 rack transport dishwasher.
Designed for high-capacity commercial kitchens, the system delivers the throughput required for major sporting and event venues while helping to reduce energy consumption and operating costs.
“We specified the UPster K-M250-S/WR1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers because it delivers reliable performance, high energy efficiency and consistent operation,” says Carl Doonan, Sales Manager at Bournville Catering Equipment.
“Its integrated heat recovery system captures energy that would otherwise be lost, reducing overall energy consumption, lowering the demand on kitchen ventilation systems and creating a more comfortable working environment for staff.”
Designed for efficiency and ergonomics
The installation was carefully designed to maximise workflow within the available space. Rather than simply replacing existing equipment, Bournville Catering Equipment developed a layout that improves both efficiency and staff ergonomics.
90-degree exit curve
“This installation is a good example of ergonomic dishwashing design,” says Ross Genner, Senior Regional Business Manager at Meiko UK.
“Bournville incorporated a 90-degree exit curve on the dishwasher to make the most of the available space and utilised a two-tier sorting station to efficiently handle incoming tableware from Wolves’ dining operations.
Loading, unloading and sorting are all carried out at an optimal working height, helping to reduce repetitive strain for staff while maintaining a smooth, fast and efficient warewashing process.”
Built for peak performance
The result is a dishwashing system capable of keeping pace with the intense peaks of football matchdays while remaining equally effective during conferences, weddings and other hospitality events.
By combining high throughput with energy-efficient technology and an ergonomically designed workflow, the installation supports both operational efficiency and staff wellbeing.
For a venue where service speed and reliability are essential, the new MEIKO rack transport dishwasher provides the performance needed to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hospitality, whatever the occasion.
